The Vivitar 3200A was a popular electronic flash unit for 35mm photography. Durable, powerful, simple and inexpensive.
Powerful automatic exposure range from 3 to 23 ft. 2 auto f-stop settings for controlling depth-of-field and maximum auto flash range. Vertical bounce flash for softer, professional quality lighting. Auto Thyristor circuitry for faster recycle time and greater number of flashes. Easy-to-use calculator dial and sufficient light indicator.
"3200A is a digital safe flash gun. IT HAS BEEN on several cameras, and thankfully nothing is wrong. It has 3 modes, white, red and blue. Set your ISO on the back panel of the flash and take a wild guess at the distance, if it is a bit less, set it to the red setting. If more than say 10ft, set it to the blue mode. Move the window in front of the flash also to that colour. And use that aperture shown in that panel on your camera with say 1/100sec shutter. Now if you shoot, you can bounce or shoot straight, and the flash should give correct exposure as it cuts the flash output if it senses enough light has reached the subject."
